The aim is to establish 1000 villages as “Saubhagya Production Villages” throughout the country.
Agriculture – Overview
The agricultural sector comprises fruits, vegetables, ornamental flowers, spices, export agricultural crops and value additions to increase the income of the rural community and increase contribution to the national GDP through increasing agricultural production.
Agriculture - Classification
The Development Officer in charge of the Division is responsible for identifying villages, selecting beneficiaries, identifying projects, coordinating institutions, providing necessary facilities, and maintaining sustainability, with the assistance of the Samurdhi Development Officer, Grama Niladhari, Agricultural Research, and Production Assistant and other divisional officers.
